Tsuyako Yamaoka's Obituary
Tsuyako Yamaoka, 87, of Waikapu, Maui, passed away peacefully on April
30, 2021 at her foster care home in Wailuku under Hospice care.
A memorial service will be held at Nakamura Mortuary on Friday, June 4,
2021. A public walkthrough visitation will take place from 9:30 am
- 10:30 a.m. Services will begin at 11:00 am with limited attendance. Burial to follow at Maui Memorial Park at 12:30 pm. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 protocols, the family kindly asks that you wear your masks and
practice social distancing.
Tsuyako was born on November 11,1933 in Hiroshima, Japan. In her early years, she worked at a candy factory and later became a seamstress. In 1959 she married Koichi, her husband of 46 years, then moved
to Maui. Tsuyako was a stay-at-home mom and helped run the family piggery and banana farm. She was a member of Wailuku Hongwanji Mission.
She was predeceased by her husband, Koichi Yamaoka. She is survived by her children, Roger (Rene) Yamaoka, Mae (Timothy) Sawamura, Lily (Michael) Villarin, and Kevin (Kristi) Yamaoka; brother Yoshiaki (Haruko) Tsuboi in Japan; and grandchildren Raelene and Randall Yamaoka, Ashley Sawamura.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Macrene Brown and Hospice Maui, especially Susan, for their compassion and genuine
care.
