Tetsue Nohara's Obituary
Tetsue “Beatrice” Nohara, August 24, 1926 – May 12, 2026, was born at the Pioneer Mill
Hospital in Lahaina, Maui. She passes peacefully in her sleep at Hale Makua in Kahului, Maui.
She was 99 years old.
She was a thoughtful, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to: Faith Takenaka
(Arnold), daughter, Lynn Cortez (predeceased Milton), daughter, Milton Nohara (Sharon), son,
Wesley Nohara (Torrie) son, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. She was proceeded by
family members: Yutaka “Jack” Nohara, husband, Takashi Shigaki, brother, George Shigaki,
brother, Adele Okimoto, sister.
Tetsue attended Honokohua School and Lahainaluna High School. She was a lifetime member of
the Lahaina Hongwanji Mission. Her hobbies included growing orchids, but her main focus was
caring for her family to care for them and to instill proper values and morals.
Memorial services will be held at the Kahului Hongwanji Mission, 291 South Puunene Ave.,
Kahului, Maui. June 27, 2026, visitation 2:00 PM, service 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations
can be made to Lahaina Hongwanji Mission or Hospice Maui.
