I am extremely saddened to hear of Sarai's passing. I have spent the last three days praying for her and her beautiful family. I got to know Sara from my work, but we became instant friends. I had much respect for her as an artist and she was so kind to me, and let me into her world to share some of her joys, like the first ever Made in Maui County Festival in 2014. Here are some photos and a video that I took that day. Also a photo of her and I enjoying a little girl time one evening at Charlie's in Paia, 2015. I am deeply pained that I haven't spoken to her in the last year and a half, while I have been battling cancer. But she would laugh that off, if she knew I felt that way, and she would for sure tell me that it was nothing that we haven't talked in awhile. That we would always be friends forever. My deepest sympathies to her children and grandchildren, some of whom I have had the please to meet. We are all broken hearted for sure and she will be missed by so many people. We can take comfort that she was a true blessing from God and He will never forsake her. We will see her again, God has promised, "...the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life".
See you then my dear friend.
