Richard Philip Marcy's Obituary
Kihei - Richard Philip Marcy, 78, passed away in hospice care September 13, 2025.
Richard was born January 26, 1947 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was a bachelor and had no children. He is survived by his sister, Diane Marcy Thompson and her husband, Joe of Kenmore, Washington and his brother, Steve Marcy and his wife, Joni, of Colbert, Washington, four nieces and two nephews, and eighteen grand nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his two parents and a brother.
Richard moved to Maui in 1970 and eventually worked for Chuck’s Steakhouse in Kaanapali, first as a valet and moving up to bartending. Later he became part owner of Chuck’s Steakhouse in Kihei where he also managed it. Richard had experience in real estate and contracted several home projects over the years.
Richard was an avid animal lover. He had a variety of dogs over the years, the most recent were Blue and Buddy, blue healer-types. He played softball back in the day with the Chuck’s Steakhouse gang, a family unto itself. He was a golfer and enjoyed traveling abroad including Europe, Panama, Thailand and the South Pacific in his life.
A celebration of life will be held at noon on Sunday November 9, 2025 at Kalama Park, north pavilion at the baseball field and all are welcome.
