Putz, Jason Matthew's Obituary
Jason Matthew Putz, 51, passed away after a brief hospitalization on January 9, 2026. Born in Denville, New Jersey, on October 21, 1974, Jason spent much of his life near the Jersey Shore and also spent time in Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Virginia. In recent years, he found his forever home in Maui, where he fell in love with the island’s tranquility and beauty—a place that brought him peace and felt, in many ways, like where he was meant to be.
Jason’s passions reflected both heart and precision. He loved rock music and live sound engineering and had a deep appreciation for the craft of getting every detail just right. He also enjoyed cars and motorcycles, drawn to the performance, the mechanics, and the freedom of the open road; BMW held a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Klaus Putz and Diane Freund and his sister, Donna Buddock. He is survived by his "Ben Dad", Ben Kalafski; his brothers, Steve Kalafski and Mike Winters; his sisters, Kathy Casey and Heidi Burton; his children, Raven Riches, Devon Riches, and Anaya Mueller; and many friends and extended family who loved and cared for him. Jason will be remembered for the connections he built, the interests he shared so generously, and the love he carried for those closest to him.
