Eileen Sumera, 82, of Kahului, Maui passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026 surrounded by her family.
Eileen was born on March 21, 1944 in Honolulu, HI to the late George & Virginia Kam (both of whom she is reunited with). She was employed at Maui Electric as a Material Coordinator for 46 years and retired in 2006.
Eileen loved family gatherings, cooking, and was very passionate to the sport of bowling. She dedicated over 50 years to bowling across the state and abroad. She was very active with association boards, leagues, and tournaments. Although she could no longer bowl, she was there to keep score, answer questions, and cheer on all bowlers.
Eileen is survived by her daughters Stephanie (Miles), Shannah (Myles), Sheryl (David), and son Pomai (Allyson); hanai sons CJ and JC (Cecily); grandchild Makanalei-Makamae; hanai grandchildren Zoe, Ekaha, Lia, Awe, Mya and Elie; brother George P Kam (Wondra); brother-in-law Vernon Fujihara (Myrtle – predeceased); numerous nieces and nephews and extended ohana.
We, the family, would like to acknowledge and extend our heartfelt gratitude to Home Health nurse Abby, Kaiser Medical center, and Maui Health ER staff.
Eileen will forever be in our hearts. Her love for her family (extended, too) and gatherings were truly important to her. Love each other everyday!!
