Barbra Iwaishi's Obituary
Barbara Iwaishi, 88, of Wailuku, passed away
peacefully on August 18, 2021 at home.
A private service was held in her memory.
Barbara was born in Wailuku on April 2,
1933 and was lovingly referred to as “Nani”
by close family and friends. She was married
to Isamu Iwaishi for 64 wonderful years.
Barbara worked at The Maui News for
almost 50 years. She thoroughly enjoyed
reading, puzzles, spending time with her
great grandchildren, family, friends and her
dog Sachi. Barbara had a quiet demeanor
with a beautiful sweet spirit and will be
missed dearly.
Barbara is survived by her beloved husband
Isamu Iwaishi and daughter Robyn Deeks (Steven). Grandchildren Mitchel
Deeks, Ashley Lau (Matthew), Jodi Tomooka, Noah Tomooka and greatgrandchildren
Peyton & Greyson Lau. She was predeceased by her sister
Patricia Bal and daughter Stacie Hisamoto.
Mahalo to Bayada, the nursing staff at Maui Memorial Medical Center and
Island Hospice for their excellent services.
