Alan Richard Pelzer's Obituary
Al Pelzer, 73, of Kahului, Hawaii, passed away on Sunday November 3, 2024, at Maui Hospice after a long battle with cancer surrounded by many friends. A celebration of life service will be held in Maui at a later date. Al was born on February 27, 1951 at Greater Community Hospital in Griswald, Iowa to Richard and Ruth Pelzer. He attended Griswald High School, graduating in 1969. His family moved to Estherville Iowa the same year. Al worked on the family farm for many years. During this time Al also got his pilot’s license and flew for Great Lakes Aviation. After the major flooding Iowa experienced in 1993, Al gave up farming and returned to college. He received his Associate of Science Degree in Airport Management. He began working as Operations Manager (FBO) for Fairmont Municipal Airport. He retired in 2013. Al moved to Maui in 2016. Al loved flying, traveling anywhere he had the opportunity, spending hours boating on the lake and keeping busy doing handyman jobs for anyone that asked. Al was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Richard Pelzer, his brother Brian and nephew Andrew. In lieu of flowers, please kindly make a donation to Hospice Maui 400 Mahalani St. Wailuku, HI 96793.
