My first recollection of Uncle Earl was his beautiful smile and gregarious personality exuding aloha and shining his bright light on the Waiola congregation. I felt blessed immediately and so at home in his warmth. He and Aunty Barbara gave so much to Lahaina and those of us who knew him through Waiola. He is missed by the entire community. Aloha nui loa Uncle, and praise ke Akua for giving you so much time to spread your aloha to every one you met. Rest in love.
In the earlier years of my career at MPD Uncle Earl & Aunty Barbara would bring us Holiday Dinner for Thanksgiving. This was one of the highlights during those Holidays that I had to work.
My son(s) were part of West Maui Little League with his son Coach Earl at the helm. And in the 3 years that we were a part of this league we had Food Concessions during the tournaments to raise funds for the Home-n-Home Series with Waiakea Uka of Big Island. They were the head of the food concessions and both were always working so hard through these events making all our food to sell. They were and are "Pillars of the Lahaina Community". We love you Uncle Earl and from the Smith and Auwae Ohana to Aunty Barbara, Coach Earl and the rest of the Kukahiko Ohana we send our love and sympathies.
