September 11, 1932 - January 10, 2021
Fumiko Cup Choy, 88, of Kahului passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at her residence with her loved ones by her side. Fumiko was born in Naha, Okinawa on September 11, 1932. Forty years later, she and her husband along with their two young children moved to Maui, where Harold was born and raised. A well-known seamstress on Maui, Fumiko sewed wedding and prom gowns, costumes for various hula halau, cheerleading uniforms for various high schools, personal attires and also alterations (she was known to draft up a pattern in a day). She was also a Sensei for her Okinawan Paranku drum group. Fumiko enjoyed playing the samisen, singing karaoke, gardening and going to Las Vegas. She is survived by her beloved husband Harold, her twin children, Miki and Jun (Evelyn) and grandsons Tyler John and Dylan. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private family service will be held at the Maui Veteran's Cemetery where Fumiko will be laid to rest. The family would like to thank Island Hospice for taking such loving care of Fumiko and the support extended to the family. Online condolences can be left at: www.Nakamuramortuary.com
